The city’s historic center, on the island of Tromsoe, is distinguished by its centuries-old wooden houses. The 1965 Arctic Cathedral, with its distinctive peaked roof and soaring stained-glass windows, dominates the skyline.

The municipality is warmer than most other places located on the same latitude, due to the warming effect of the Gulf Stream. Tromsoe is even milder than places much farther south of it elsewhere in the world, such as on the Hudson Bay and in Far East Russia, with the warm-water current allowing for both relatively mild winters and tree growth in spite of its very high latitude.

ITINERARY

Day 01 Arrival to Tromsoe by Flight

• Private transfer to hotel by minibus without assistant.
• Rest of the day, leisure time.
• Overnight at the hotel.

Day 02 Aurora Safari to Base Station

• Breakfast at the hotel.
• Morning, free time at your own arrangement or take the optional tours.
• At 6:15PM, meet up to specific location for your tour.
• Aurora Safari to Base Station with hot meal
• Each evening, it is chosen to which Base station to visit to have the best opportunity to see the Northern Lights. If the weather changes and clouds moved in, the tour moves to another location. You will be driven by comfortable coaches with on-board toilet and a dedicated guide.
• On base station, there is a local host with lots of stories about the local culture and history to tell! At base stations are located warm shelters (a traditional lavvo tent or a heated and cosy building), toilet facilities, campfires and benches outside.
• During the tour, hot drinks and light local meal will be served. This tour offers the best possibility to catch the Northern Lights.
• Afterwards, back to the hotel and overnight.

Day 03

• Breakfast at the hotel.
• Morning, free time at your own arrangement or take the optional tours.
• At 9AM, meet up to specific location for your tour, choice 1 of the 2 options.
• Option 1 - SNOWMOBILE SAFARI
  The tour begins with safety instructions. The trail has a distance of approx. 15km each way, 30km in total. The starting point is at 250m above sea level, and your guide brings you up to 875m. You will be driving in pairs, one driver and one passenger on each snowmobile with an opportunity to switch places during the trip. At the end of the trip, a hot meal will be served in a lavvu. Solo drive is possible at an extra charge.
• Option 2 – DOG SLEDDING
  The dog sledding winter adventure starts with learning how to drive in a dog sled team. Then, you drive the dog sled into the winter landscapes, through the beautiful valley of Vass. The trails you follow have a total distance of approx. 15km. You will drive in pairs, one driver and one passenger on each sled, with an opportunity to switch places half way. You will receive a traditional hot meal during the excursion.
• Afterwards, back to the hotel and overnight.

Day 04 DEPARTURE

• Breakfast at the hotel.
• Check out from the hotel at 12 Noon.
• According to your flight, transfer to the airport.
• End of our services.
