Surrounded by the Caspian sea and Causcasus mountains, Azerbaijan is a low –lying country famed for its medieval walled old city which contains the Palace of the Shirvanshahs described as “one of the pearls of architecture” in the country.  Due to its petroleum and natural gas – the country has blazing fires around the Peninsula which flames jet into the air 3 meters high.   • QABALA - or Gabala, is city rich with historical monuments, music festivals and numerous monuments of historical importance. Considered to be the popular tourist destination due to the good spring climate, mountainous landscapes, and diverse fauna. It has also an amusement park with an ice skating rink, a beautiful flower garden and magnificent waterfall to end a tour.
  • BAKU - the capital city and commercial hub of Azerbaijan which offers great touristic spots such as the Baku Boulevard hugging the Caspian Sea, the Flame Towers, and the shopping district along Nizami street.
  • SHEKI - a small city with a lot of things to offer by way of historical attractions. Rich in Islamic architecture, the Silk Road history, good food, and friendly people, this is the true travel gem of the country.
  • GANJA - the second largest city in Azerbaijan, which regained its original name, Ganja, in 1989 which open doors to boost its tourism sector. The city has historic buildings such as Nizami Mausoleum, Ancient Gates, Juma Mosque, Imamzadeh, Tomb of Javad Khan, and Chokak Hamam. It’s the first city to win the title of “European Youth Capital”.
  • Mərdəkan - the name is translated as “Place of Mard”, which indicates the release of the settlement by ancient Mard tribes. The main point of interests are Tuba, the 15th century Shakha Mosque, the house and museum of Sergei Yesenin, and the summer house and grave of the oil magnate – Zeynalabdin Taghiyev.

BEST TIME TO VISIT AZERBAIJAN

The best time to visit Azerbaijan is April to June – the lowlands of Azerbaijan will are green and flowers are in complete bloom. It is a perfect time to explore the region. If you interested to visit the mountains, then the month of July is the perfect time of the year. It is also a popular time for hiking and trekking. Calm, sunny days, a warm sea and verdant forests, parks and gardens which begin to change colour in late October – it’s a real pleasure to spend autumn in Azerbaijan! Winter in Azerbaijan is a lovely season for lovers of local food and Azerbaijani culinary surprises.

  • VISIT THE PALACE OF SHIRVANSHAHS - The Palace of the Shirvanshahs is a 15th-century palace built by the Shirvanshahs and described by UNESCO as "one of the pearls of Azerbaijan's architecture"
  • The Mysterious Fire Temple & Mountain - Be surprised with the mysterious “Burning Mountain” or Yanar Dag , a natural gas fire which blazes continuously on a hillside on the Absheron Peninsula. This is where the historical name of the country came about, “the land of fire”. Along with it, is the mystic Fire Temple in Surakhani town – where it was a site before for the Zoroastrian Fire worshipping villagers
  • MUD VOLCANOES - Azerbaijan has 350 mud volcanoes out of the 800 in the world. Local people call them “gaynacha” (boiling water), “bozdag” (grey mountain), which later on they realized the medical usage of the volcanic clay and mud. Last eruption recorded was on September 23, 2018 which produces mud extrusions that has reached 4km long and cracks as deep as 80m.
  • Explore Gobustan National Park - is a hill and mountain site occupying the southeast end of the Big Caucasian Ridge in Azerbaijan, mainly in the basin of Jeyrankechmaz River, between the rivers Pirsagat and Sumgait. The rock drawings dating back to remote centuries suggest that the climate of Gobustan in the distant past was damp and close to subtropical.
  • Check Out The Flame Towers - Flame Towers is a trio of skyscrapers in Baku, Azerbaijan, including the tallest in the country, with a height of 182 m. Towers symbolize the long history of fire worshippers that considered Azerbaijan as a birthplace for prophet Zoroaster. The Flame Towers are completely covered with the LED screens that display the movement of a fire visible from the farthest points of the city.

It was designed by German engineer Hermann Tilke to encompass most of the city's major landmarks, so it winds along the old fortress walls, up historic Istiglaliyyat Street and onto the finishing straight which runs parallel to the Seaside Boulevard.
