Day 1: Johannesburg
— Cape Town (by air)
From Johannesburg, fly to Cape Town and transfer to your hotel.
Evening at leisure to explore the attractive waterfront with
its lively shops and cafés.
Day 2: Cape Town and
surrounds (230 kilometres)
Excursion to the picturesque Cape winelands, with wine-tasting
at two well-known estates in Paarl and Stellenbosch.
Day 3: Cape Town and
surrounds (200 kilometres)
A full day tour to experience the rugged beauty of Cape Peninsula.
Stop at Boulders Beach to see the endearing penguins, and
drive through the quaint naval village of Simon’s Town.
Day 4: Cape Town —
Oudtshoorn (532 kilometres)
Travel through scenic landscapes of the Karoo to Oudtshoorn
where you visit Cango Caves to marvel at the underground icy
formations.
Day 5: Oudtshoorn —
Knysna (150 kilometres)
Tour an ostrich farm before continuing your journey by steam
train through the scenic countryside between George and Knysna
(except May to August where an ostrich farm lunch is served
instead).
Day 6: Knysna and surrounds
(30 kilometres)
Cruise the vast Knysna lagoon and visit Featherbed Nature
Reserve. Afternoon at leisure to discover Knysna’s excellent
art galleries and craft shops.
Day 7: Knysna —
Port Elizabeth (260 kilometres) — Durban (by air)
Follow the coast road past the lovely Tsitsikamma Forest to
Port Elizabeth, where you board your flight to Durban.
Day 8: Durban —
Zululand (363 kilometres)
Travel through lush coastal scenery to the Zulu kingdom. See
Zulu dancers in the cultural village, sample traditional Zulu
beer and enjoy a hearty lunch before you check in to your
hotel.
Day 9: Zululand —
Swaziland (475 kilometres)
Enjoy a motor launch cruise on Lake St Lucia, a World Heritage
Site set amidst breathtaking scenery, before visiting a Swazi
candle factory in the Kingdom of Swaziland.
Day 10: Swaziland —
Kruger National Park (256 kilometres)
Visit a famous glass works factory before travelling on to
Kruger National Park, arriving in time for a welcome sundowner
as dusk falls across the African bush.
Day 11: Kruger National
Park (150 kilometres)
Head out in open safari vehicles for a full day safari in
search of wildlife, with a good chance of seeing the Big Five
– lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo and rhino.
Day 12: Kruger National
Park — Pilgrim’s Rest (195 kilometres)
Today travel on to Pilgrim’s Rest, famed for its gold
rush past. The high veld comes to a sudden end at the Drakensberg
escarpment, and the views from God’s Window and above
the Blyde River Canyon are amongst the most spectacular in
South Africa.
Day 13: Pilgrim’s
Rest — Johannesburg (456 kilometres)
Visit a diamond mine, before driving to the capital, Pretoria,
and on to Johannesburg for an overnight stay.
Day 14: Johannesburg
Morning at leisure, in Johannesburg for superb shopping opportunities
before your transfer to Johannesburg International Airport
for your onward flight.
