LOCATION: Košice,
the second greatest town in Slovakia is a regional town, a natural
metropolis of Eastern Slovakia. Košice is an important residential
and industrial centre, a university town with developed educational
institutions, cultural and scientific workplaces. The central zone
of Košice, which is declared an urban preserve, comprises almost
500 conserved memorial objects. The most significant historical
architectural preserve is the Gothic St. Elizabeth´s Cathedral
dated from the 14th century.

Urban´s tower with museum exposition of bells, the St. Michael´s
Chapel and ancient churches of Dominican, Franciscan, Jesuit and
Premonstratensian orders. Košice is thanks to its position
also an ideal starting point for whole-day trips. Visitors desiring
for rest mostly go to the valley of Cermel brook with the greatest
forest park of Košice. The children´s railroad with the
engine "Katka" can be found here as well as its final
station at the hiking centre Alpinka being the most sought attractions
of the town.
A unique attraction is the toboggan track in Kavecany. You can find
here also the greatest zoological garden in Central Europe. The
cold geyser in Herlany is a European peculiarity. If you are interested
in history, there is here for you the Gemer region with the castle
Krásna Hôrka and the manor house in Betliar.
