What to expect: A tiled entrance leads to the high-ceilinged reception of the Golden Gate Hotel, decorated with large contemporary paintings and low dark-wood chairs. Floor-to-ceiling windows overlook Zitna Street. To the right is a café bar and restaurant, which leads through to a large cobbled courtyard and the health club. Amenity highlights: The Infinita health club (surcharge for all usage) is situated across the courtyard from the hotel and includes a fitness centre, solarium, shared and private saunas, and two massage rooms. Wireless Internet access is available in the public areas (surcharge), and there is also a complimentary high-speed Internet terminal in the bar. Open all day, the restaurant serves snacks, sandwiches, salads and a range of international dishes. Insider tip: The Botanical Gardens, 800 metres from the Golden Gate Hotel, offer an escape from the shops and bustle of Prague’s New Town. Paths wind between rockeries and overhanging leafy trees, with benches for quiet contemplation. There are hothouses with tropical plants, and an impressive cactus room. It’s a 10-minute walk from the hotel, or two stops by tram nos. 18, 24, 53 or 55 from Charles Square.

The concierge desk in reception can organise airport transfers, restaurant, opera and theatre reservations, and provide information on local attractions and shopping assistance. Four conference rooms, all with natural light, have capacity for up to 80 delegates. Wireless Internet access is available throughout the public areas (surcharge) and there is a PC with complimentary high-speed Internet access in the bar’s mezzanine level.

The privately-owned Infinita health club is situated in the courtyard and features a fitness centre with cardiovascular and weights machine, a sauna, solarium, two massage rooms, and a juice bar, as well as a separate spa tub and sauna for private hire. The Golden Gate Restaurant & Café - Split-level bar and dining room. Serves snacks, salads, soups, and international and Czech dishes such as Grilled Pork with Basil Cannelloni, and Baked Duck with Sauerkraut and Dumplings. Bright modern decor with dark wood tables and cream-upholstered chairs. Tables and chairs set outside on the courtyard in summer. Open all day.
