DESCRIPTION: The History of the Château du Lac … The Château du Lac was built in 1904 by the architect Wendrickx for the "Compagnie Internationale des Eaux Minérales" who wished to exploit the local mineral water springs and create a spa. It started its life as a bottling plant for mineral waters in 1934 when it was bought by John Martin who began to bottle Schweppes Indian Tonic there, to complement the range of beers (Guinness & Gordons), which he had been importing since 1909. These springs of rarest purity, Bonne Fontaine, Argentine and Geneviève, are recognised by the Royal Academy of Medicine and are still flowing today near the Château. In 1981, production moved to more modern premises at Rue du Cerf in Genval. A few years later, in 1985, the Martin family decided to restore the Château du Lac.

Today it may state to be the only 5-star hotel in the south of the country that can accommodate to 1.000 people for big events, banquets and weddings.

LOCATION: The Château du Lac is ideally located, in the South of Brussels a mere 20 km from the Centre and Brussels International Airport. Düsseldorf International Airport is at 220 km. It is surrounded by pure nature; a sublime garden, a lake, bedded in a picturesque countryside but nevertheless within twenty minutes only you can reach the City.

ACCOMMODATION: The Château du Lac's extremely spacious and luxurious 119 rooms and 2 suites have been painstakingly furnished for comfort and efficiency, whether for business, family or romantic weekend breaks.

All our rooms are equipped to the highest technological standards: independently controlled air conditioning, digital pay-TV, Internet via the television, wireless Internet, ADSL connection and digital safe. We differentiate between suite, best of home, park and lakeside executive, club and executive rooms.

RESTAURANT & BAR: Our Restaurant - Bar - Coffee & Tea Room, 'Genval.Les.Bains', is open daily from 9 a.m. to midnight. The Bars. Situated on the ground floor of the hotel, our bar 'The Kingfisher Inn' is open from 5 p.m. to midnight and can offer a vast selection of cocktails as well as the whole range of John Martin beers. The bar is closed on Sundays.

There is also the Bar - Coffee & Tea Room attached to our restaurant, 'Genval.Les.Bains', which is open from 9 a.m. to midnight.

FACILITIES: The John Harris Fitness Centre.

This American fitness club, situated on the roof of the Château du Lac, is equipped with modern, computerised apparatus, a recreational swimming pool, sauna, Jacuzzi and steam room. You can just as easily choose to relax on the large panoramic terrace overlooking the Genval Lake.

Qualified trainers and physiotherapists give aerobics, stretching, step and yoga classes, as well as massages.

SPORTS FACILITIES: At two steps from the hotel you can find two tennis courts belonging to the John Harris Fitness Centre. The Château du Lac is well known for its competitive cooperation with golf clubs, 11 prestigious clubs in the Brabant Wallon area, all of them in a periphery from not more than 35 minutes.

Close to the hotel there are facilities for equitation and squash, opposite the hotel, on the other side of the lake there are windsurfing, sailing and fishing.

ATTRACTION: Six Flags Belgium. This amusement park is at only 9 km from the Chateau du Lac and offers distraction for everybody; thrill in seven roller-coasters for the fearless, over 15 mini-attractions with different themes to be explored by younger customers, Bugs Bunny Land for all kids "under" 4.6 and only for them, the water fun - the park has water everywhere - to be experienced in all kind of ways.

MEETINGS & BANQUET: For between 10 and 1,000 people, the Chateau du Lac can transform its spaces for your banquets and special events.Our entire team works to create exceptional lunches or dinners so that your guests have the fondest memories.
