ACCOMMODATION
There are 50 beachfront bungalows on Halaveli. From the outside
they look Maldivian, with their conical, thatched roofs; inside,
however, the décor is turn-of-the-century European. All
rooms are air-conditioned and each has an IDD telephone and a
mini-bar that add convenience to comfort. The bathrooms are modern
and spacious, with hot and cold water.
The veranda outside each room faces the beach. Beyond the tall
palm trees and thick tropical shrubbery growing in front of the
room lie the beach and the beautiful lagoon - a breathtaking view
right in front of your own restful beach bungalow.
DINING
Restaurant
All meals are served at the main restaurant in Halaveli. As everywhere
else in the island, the ambience makes you feel comfortable and
at ease. Buffets are served for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The
buffets are always generous and the food is distinctively Italian,
prepared by experienced, professional chefs; the food tastes great
and the friendly service adds to the enjoyment of every meal.
You find yourself establishing
a rapport with your waiter after the very first meal and cannot
help but appreciate the personalised service that you receive.
The restaurant buzzes with lively chatter and laughter at meal
times, making you want to linger behind even after you do justice
to the excellent fare.
Bar
The bar in Halaveli is the island’s main centre of entertainment.
Open on all sides, with a high, thatched ceiling; with soft, sandy
floors and views of the beach and ocean, the bar is a welcoming
place. All guests come together here after lunch for an hour of
fun as the island’s in-house animators put on live music
shows with barroom puzzles and quizzes with a difference.
The bar comes alive in the evenings once again as live music and
excited chatter permeates the air as happy guests discuss the
day’s events.
It is truly a pleasure to spend
time here, revelling in the general bonhomie that is always present
when guests gather here.

RECREATION
When 99% of the country’s
territory is clear blue ocean, it is hardly surprising that most
sports are concentrated on or under the water. The water sports
centre in Halaveli offers you the opportunity to enjoy the Maldivian
waters to your heart’s content. If you want to sail the
waters and feel the wind in your hair and the sun on your face
as you cut across the azure blue sea, go for a ride on one of
our catamarans.
If you are a beginner, our instructor will make sure that you
get the hang of things in no time at all.
Snorkelling in Halaveli is great fun. There are daily snorkelling
expeditions to excellent reefs in the island’s vicinity.
Local motorised boats leave from the island every morning and
anchor at selected reefs for an hour or more. The beauty of Maldivian
reefs is famous across the world for the profusion of colour and
for the rich, exotic marine life. A snorkelling expedition provides
you with the opportunity to experience this breathtaking beauty
first-hand and to have close encounters with the exotic creatures
that live among the corals.
In fact, on the western side of
the island the outer reef is close enough that it is easy to snorkel
to it right from the shore. This makes for a wonderful little
glimpse into the underwater scenery on the reef as well as a look
at the different kinds of marine life found in the area between
the inner reef and the outer one.
Windsurfing is another excellent
option for enjoying life on Halaveli. Even if you have never windsurfed
before you will find the shallow lagoon an ideal arena to learn
this exhilarating sport. If you are already an enthusiast, you
will have some of the best rides of your life here.
All equipment, well maintained
by the staff, are available for rent whenever you feel like taking
part in any of the sports.
On land, the choice is limited
to a game of table tennis, table-football or darts. But then there
is too much going on in the island anyway for you to feel the
need to go looking for other diversions.

near to enjoy the exciting dive. Many Marine Protected Areas famous
